A tribute to one of Sheffield’s great gateways. This black heavy cotton T-shirt carries the Sheffield Archive crest on the front left chest and a large distressed THE WICKER composition across the back—capturing the broad stone arch, railway above and the busy street life beneath.
Completed in 1848, the Wicker Arches carried the railway across the Don Valley and became so embedded in Sheffield speech that something enormous could be described as being “as wide as t’Wicker Arches.”
Part of the Council Estate Tat Sheffield Archive: preserving the city’s landmarks, stories and shared memories in a bold, wearable form.
